Just outside the line of what we really want to talk about is that what you put on the inside is just as important as what goes on the outside.  A healthy diet, suitable exercise, proper posture, and plenty of rest effects the outside as much as the inside and demonstrates that we treat ourselves with care, love, and respect.
Now…in keeping with our topic, we may be crossing a line somewhere but we’re going to give it to you as straight up as we know.  Don’t Walk!  Run -  Fine Line Serum over your little wrinkly parts, you know those places: upper lip, eye and crows feet areas, forehead, neck.  Arguably, no cream or lotion can halt or reverse the passage of time, and this includes wrinkles and lines, BUT to some extent we   are able to control the visible signs of aging. Let’s face it, aging occurs (that’s a good thing considering the alternative), and the skin gradually loses its elasticity and natural moisture.  But certain areas can use a tad more moisture of skin loving oils like those found in Bar-Maids Fine Line Serum. Argan, Squalane, Vitamin E, and Grapeseed oils. Packaged in an roller ball applicator, a little goes a long way. Psst…it doesn’t even matter if it’s a straight wrinkly line or not.

On The Needles:(0:33)

We remind our listeners of the three interviews that we just put up recently: Franklin Habit, Maggie Jackson, and Jane Patrick and Barry Schacht. More interviews will be pushed live on sundays.

Jasmin has a lot of socks on the needles, she is thrilled with the Hannukah Stripes by Quere Fiber.
Correction: We mispronounced the name of the lovely Fiber Dyer Mint Rain, who sent us lovely yarn for #operationsockdrawer.

Jasmin is knitting socks in the colorway Hocus Pocus, by Mint Rain, and Gigi has cast on socks in Ocean Depths, also by Mint Rain. We wound them up into Wickelknäuel, which look like everlasting Gobstoppers, to make their good looks shine even more. Directions for this technique can be found on Susan B. Anderson's website.

Jasmin worked on her  socks from Cephalopod yarns out of the Barberpole Hopper colorway
and she is knitting "Frozen" socks for Genevieve (Claire Devine's Planum pattern out of Biscotte &Cie).

Gigi has finished a pair of tube socks for Genevieve out of Fluormania #operationsockdrawer, #matchynatchyKAL. She also purloined the Blueberry Waffle pattern (free on Ravelry), from Dr Gemma, and is knitting the socks out of Austermann Step.

Jasmin is working on her Harvest cardigan, the SPAKAL sweater.

We are talking about Susan B. Anderson's idea of #projectsweaterchest. Jasmin has gone around the bend.  We are going to launch a long term knit-along project, to knit ten or twelve sweaters. Jasmin has been talking to Leslie of the Knit Girllls, planning this project. More details on this craziness next week.We will launch this September 21.

Jasmin talks about Sock Architecture by Lara Neel, which we reviewed last week, and she wants to knit her way through the book, using Regia.

Gigi has finished knitting the lace of the Asterope, and only needs to do the crochet bind-off. She also has cast on a pair of tube socks for Genevieve. Cuffs out of Heritage 150, body out of Witchy Woman by Lollipop Yarn.

Events:(18:15)

- September 20 from 2pm-6pm: We are hosting a Swift tasting at Purlescence

- October 16-19 Pacific International Quilt Fest, at the Santa Clara Convention Center

Also we talked about Homecrafts at the Monterey County Fair.

We were very happy to see Carolina Homespun's booth at the Monterey Wool Auction.
Jasmin mentions observing Judith MacKenzie McCuin judging fleece, and Anatomical Erin entering knitting at a show.

A skein of sock yarn in the colorway "Je suis prest", from Gingertwist Studio in Edinburgh

Mother Knows Best:(33:53)

We are talking about making mistakes being opportunities for learning.

When Knitting Attacks:(35:05)

Jasmin's Harvest Cardigan is suffering form armhole pooch.

Gigi's messed up the toe of her Schnozberry socks, out of Neon Now. She managed to knit too many stitches on waste yarn for the afterthought heel for the Gooseberry Waffle socks. We mention the TwinSet Designs podcast.

Jasmin worked on a pair of socks from Cephalopod yarns out of the Barberpole Hopper colorway (#operationsockdrawer), but forgot to take her waste yarn with her and had to improvise.

Gigi had blocked the Rocky Coast cardigan, and discovered that a straight up and down sweater doesn't really fit her. Next time she will build in increases, to accommodate her shape.

She was working on the Witchy Woman tube socks and managed to create some more ends to weave in, needlessly.

Also, she cast on the Ocean Depths colorway from Mint Rain Yarns, with a Sock Architecture pattern. The stripey yarn wanted an plain pattern.

Purloined:(51:17)

This week we are purloining Chai from the Knit Knit Cafe podcast, hosted by the lovely Abby.

Clothes on Shows:(53:03)

We talk about Outlander. We love watching it, and then re-watching it with the commentary by Ronald Moore.  There is a scene of wool waulking.

Gigi mentions Sam Heughan and the Heughligans, and Terry Dresbach (the costume designer) and proposes "Dresbachanalian" as a term for her fans.

Review:(57:05)

This week we review Beastly Crochet by Brenda K.B. Anderson

We mention Halos of Hope

And Sew On:(1:05:18)

Gigi is still working on the dress for Genevieve, (Simplicity 2265) and finds the hand sewing soothing.

She ran into a snag when it came to sewing in button holes. September is National Sewing Month.

On The Needles:(0:34)

Gigi is working on the Asterope shawl and finds it challenging. Jasmin has not worked on her for the #SummerofLaceandBeads. Jasmin mentions the Frostflower shawl Gigi knitted.  Jasmin  thinks she should work on her Brandywine.

Gigi had planned to knit the Red Rock Canyon, but that hasn't happened yet. Jasmin had planned to knit the Bitterroot, and she wants to finish her #matchymatchyKAL projects.

Gigi is knitting the Water's Edge for the #matchymatchyKAL, and just figured put how long she wants the sleeves.

Jasmin is working on a sock for her #countdowntooutlander, #kiltmenowKAL out of the Outlander colorway from Voolenvine in the Lush base, in the Fraser Tartan project bag from Caithness Craft Collective.

Not to be confused with the Je Suis Prest, from Ginger Twist Studio. (Which is also gorgeous.)

Gigi is also knitting onsocks out of Neon Now, in the Schnozberry colorway (her name, not the dyers). Jasmin has made excellent progress on her SPAKAL cardigan. the Harvest cardigan

Jasmin worked on a pair of socks from Cephalopod yarns out of the Barberpole Hopper colorway (#operationsockdrawer),

Also, she finished the Breezy cardigan, blocked it, and enthuses about how much she likes SOAK, and using OXO Folding Sweater Dryer.

Events:(18:39)

We are hosting a Swift tasting at Purlescence on September 20 from 2pm-6pm

- October 16-19 Pacific International Quilt Fest, at the Santa Clara Convention Center

We had an amazing time at the Monterey Wool Auction, and we are excited about lots of thing, and we had great fair food. Fried artichoke hearts, ceviche, shrimp cocktail and funnel cakes.

We find that having the wool auction on a holiday weekend is not optimal, and we think that the wool auction would be better attended on a regular sunday. So Jasmin is writing a letter to suggest a more convenient day.  [Form letter and destination info will be available in episode 298 shownotes.]

We love Mendenhall fleeces. We dropped off our fleeces with Morro Fleece Works for processing.

Contest:(37:35)

This week we talk about Blue Ribbons at fairs. Jasmin mentions Judith MacKenzie, and she would love to see Deb Robson and Beth Smith judge fleeces.

When Knitting Attacks:(49:09)

Gigi was attacked by her Gooseberry Waffle socks. Jasmin is working on her Harvest cardigan and having issues with the depth of the armhole.

Gigi started the Knit your Love Shawl from Martina Behm. She needed sharper needles and made a mistake somewhere..

Clothes on Shows:(54:04)

Project Runway has become very interesting. We have enthusiastically announced our support for #teamkini.

Review:(55:12)

This week we review Sock Architecture by Lara Neel.

Straw Into Gold:(1:03:20)

Gigi iwas spinning with her broken spring, but will be spinning on the Victoria, until her wheel is fixed. She was spinning her neppy fleece, and Andrew had to listen to the intermittent whirr of the wheel, instead of the soothing purr of Jasmin's spinning.
