I agree with you about the ending of Friday Night Knitting Club. I read novels to be entertained, not depressed by the loss of a child's mother. I would not recommend it to others as a good read, to depressing.

The link you gave for Fadenfreude didn't work, but I did find the podcast site on www.podcast.de. It will be fun to check out the podcasts on your list.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the podcast reviews. I really enjoy yours and I'm looking forward to trying some of the others. The discussion about stashing was really interesting. I like your perspective on the issue.
ReplyDeleteI really liked Friday Night Knitting Club. I also heard there was a movie coming... Not sure if that is just a rumor or not.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the list of great podcasts! I have just updated my list of subscriptions!
Every so often, I am so disgusted with a book, I want to throw it across the room, and this is one. I couldn't get past the first couple of chapters. It's such an unrealistic fantasy. An unwed mother is knitting in the park, and happens to encounter a wealthy patron to help her start her business. Please! How could anyone realistically knit fast enough to make sweaters for a living and pay NYC rent? I doubt this book would ever have been published, if not for the knitting craze. I think it was the dialog of the knitting group that finally sent the book flying, though.
ReplyDeleteHi Jamine and Gigi,
ReplyDeleteThanks very much for the free plug. I managed to get another one up the other day. I enjoy your show very much, as you know, and admire your tenacity and drive in getting them up regularly. You are my companions on my long trips to Sydney most weeks.
